  • Large Popsicle Sticks
  • Red and Blue Watercolor ( Paint can be substituted )
  • White Paint
  • Course Paint Brush
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Twine for hanging
  • rustic white daisy flower

How-to Instructions

I wanted to stain the popsicle sticks this time around so I choose to use watercolors for a different effect. I also used a real course brush NOT a watercolor brush.

Then lightly brush your popsicle sticks with a wet brush and color leaving some areas bare. I went with red mixed with a burgundy color to get a weathered red look and a blue jean color blue.

The WHITE watercolor did nothing to the popsicles so I went with an off white antique acrylic paint, watered it down a little, and again left some popsicle stick exposed.

After paint you should really see the rustic look! EKKK I was really excited!

Now Glue your sticks to stars!

After that, take (3) 4″ pieces of twine for hanging. Put a loop in the top one for hanging. Then glue the other two pieces to connect the 3 stars. Or more!

Next add your finishing detail. For this project, it was this adorable white daisy. Which really brings this little patriotic craft to life.
