The day before Thanksgiving almost feels like Thanksgiving day. For us hostesses anyway, there is a TON to get done the day BEFORE Thanksgiving.

I want to spitfire 3 quick things to help put Thanksgiving in perspective.

Hosting a family or Friendsgiving Dinner is super fun but takes a lot of prep work to ensure everything goes smoothly.

For the 4th or so year in a row here’s what I do the day before Thanksgiving.

Decorate the table | The Day Before Thanksgiving

I put the entire tablescape together. Tablecloths, centerpieces, plates, napkins, silverware. Not only do I want to look at it for more than a few hours, I like to see how it looks in case I want to change or add anything last minute.

See our Full Tablescape and Decorations from 2018 HERE and get some awesome inspiration for decorating on a budget!

Thanksgiving inspiration 2019 was all about using what I had, found, and adding some simple pretty touches. Heres a sneak peek at our Thanksgiving table for 2019. ( Link for 2019 Table Decor, tips, and inspiration coming soon)

3 tips from a hostess for the day before Thanksgiving! Lower your Thanksgiving stress and enjoy your holiday! Tips, Decoration, inspiration, and more!

Prepare any food I can | ESPECIALLY THE EGGS

Cook any eggs the day before Thanksgiving and if weather permits, open the house while you do it. Eggs smell and you don’t want to be doing it Thanksgiving Morning.

Label Dishes | Even Though It Sounds Crazy

Okay, this one might seem a little odd but honestly, it helps me so much to avoid rushing around Thanksgiving day. This ensures I have a dish for everything I’m cooking and a spot on the food table for what everyone’s bringing. It also gives me a chance to rinse any dishes I need too.

This is usually the time I’m also quickly doing The 5 Things To Do Before Your Guests Arrive, a list of 5 simple things you’ll want to take a look at and definitely do before tomorrow.

So instead of trying to be Superwoman and do EVERYTHING in a few hours with my kids and man demanding my attention tomorrow. These are 3 things I do to prepare the day before Thanksgiving.

So Thanksgiving Day

Can consist of:

  • Turkey in the Morning
  • Piping the deviled eggs and plating
  • Setting out the salad bar and drink station
  • A little light cooking in the afternoon ( We usually all have one or two dishes to prepare and bring them over potluck style )
  • Plate everything right before dinner
  • Enjoy family.

Tomorrow will be a day of Family, Friends, and spending time together.
